About Americana Journal

The music industry has changed significantly over the past few decades. Advancements in technology and media have created an environment where artists can produce creative projects at lower costs, maintaining independence and creative freedom. Social media also allows artists to connect with their audience directly, without relying on the reach of large labels. This shift opened the door to start our own label and brand around the kind of projects we care about.

One thing we want to prioritize with this label and brand is an element of entertainment and depth. We don't only want to release music. We're interested in creative, engaging ways to give people deeper access to the projects, artists, and stories that shape them. That includes podcasts, videos, and possibly some writing too.

Tyler Nail:

"I've always seen myself at the helm of an arts organization of some kind. When I was in high school, I dreamed of eventually heading a production company or publishing house. But eventually the dream became to establish a label. I think we thought we would do it after working with another label for a while. But I guess we figured there's no sense in waiting for that. John and I have always balanced each other out. What each of us lacks, the other has a heavy dose of. So I couldn't imagine a better person to take this project on with."

Johnathan Loos:

"Tyler and I have collaborated on music in various ways for over a decade, and early on realized how shared visions and tastes between artists can fuel creativity, even if working on solo projects. Independence is great, but cutting through a saturated market alone can be tough. The American Journal idea is simple: there’s strength in collaboration, and building a brand around shared values can help us and other artists release work more effectively and connect with audiences more directly."
